This course aims to introduce students to the theory and praxis of environmental governance relevant to global South contexts. It begins by outlining and discussing dominant historical and current environmental governance theories, models and approaches at the global level. The course then engages with various economic, political, historical, institutional and social drivers that influence environmental governance processes, practices and implementation, using the global South as a lens.
