Course Outline:
The course introduces information systems and their role in business. Fundamental knowledge of information systems, their functioning and how they contributed to globalisation will be discussed. The course topics cover: electronic business, business intelligence, analysing information for decision-making, computational thinking, information security and privacy, and emerging technologies. The practical component of the course consists of two parts: Introduction to data analysis using Microsoft Excel and Introduction to E-Commerce Web Design. An optional module, Introduction to Python Programming will be offered in place of Introduction to E-Commerce Web Design. Students wishing to take up this optional module will undertake an admission test.
